Crysis 2 Remastered Steam Deck – But can it run Crysis?

A series that “smoked” graphics cards and was a benchmark for many years. Crysis 2 Remastered on Steam Deck – But can it run Crysis?

Yes, it’s another Epic Games Store exclusive that will probably arrive on Steam this September. If you want to check out the game on Steam Deck today then I recommend this tutorial: EGS installation guide on Rock Paper Shotgun

I tested various options for installing Epic Games Store on Steam Deck (Lutris, Heroic, etc.), but I’ve got the best performance with the manual setup.

So how does Crysis 2 Remastered perform on Steam Deck? Surprisingly well! I tested the game on the latest official Proton version.

Most of the time, the smoothness of the gameplay stays within 60FPS at native resolution with low graphics settings (textures on high). The biggest problem is stutter, especially after loading a level. The longer you play the more it fades away. To maintain more stable performance, you can lower the screen refresh rate to 45-50Hz and additionally raise the details a bit (Object, Shadows and Postprocessing Quality to Medium). Framepacing is correct, so the game is very enjoyable. Crysis 2 Remastered even at low settings looks very good on the small screen.

Gamepad works properly. Cloud saving works, but be sure to turn off the game via the menu. If you shut it down via Steam then there may be a save conflict.

I apologize for my aiming. The huge lag caused by my recording card doesn’t help.

  1. This article states something wrong: there are NO cloud saves in Crysis 2 Remastered. Bin at all in Steam and only saves, no profile, on epic
