Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025: Forza Horizon 6 Heads to Japan, Ninja Gaiden 4 Revealed, and More Xbox Announcements

Microsoft showcased this year’s highlights during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast, revealing a range of premieres and updates from Xbox Game Studios and partners around the world. Japanese inspirations dominated the announcements – from racing beneath Mount Fuji in Forza Horizon 6 to mythical tales in the Age of Mythology: Heavenly Spear expansion.

Forza Horizon 6 – Japan in Full Bloom

One of the biggest moments of the presentation was the reveal of Forza Horizon 6, which will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass in 2026. The latest installment takes players to Japan, combining vibrant cityscapes, peaceful countryside roads, and breathtaking natural scenery. The trailer showcased iconic landmarks – with the majestic silhouette of Mount Fuji, the neon glow of Tokyo, and cherry blossoms dancing in the wind.

This is the first time the series visits the Land of the Rising Sun – developers at Playground Games promise an authentic recreation of Japanese roads, highlighting the country’s unique tuning culture and dynamic weather systems inspired by local climates.

Ninja Gaiden 4 – Return of a Legend

The showcase also featured the first full trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4, developed in collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames. The new installment retains the series’ signature brutality and fast-paced combat while introducing a modern approach to difficulty.

A new dynamic difficulty system adjusts enemy behavior to match the player’s fighting style. The Hero Mode will allow newcomers to experience the series without frustration. For the first time ever, a dedicated training mode will be included, letting players master combat techniques before major encounters. The game is scheduled for release on October 21, 2025.

Microsoft Flight Simulator – Japan from the Sky

Aviation fans can now download the latest update for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The Japan World Update 20 introduces 23 new photogrammetry regions, including Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, Sapporo, and Hiroshima. It also adds five hand-crafted airports and 67 new landmarks – including Osaka Castle and Fukuoka Tower.

Additionally, a new aircraft has been added – the NAMC YS-11, a classic Japanese passenger plane from the 1960s.

Age of Mythology: Heavenly Spear – Japanese Mythology Expands

Age of Mythology: Retold returns with the Heavenly Spear expansion, transporting players into a world inspired by Japanese mythology. The story follows Yasuko, a farmer’s daughter who discovers a magical spear and becomes entangled in a conflict between mortals and gods.

The expansion launches on September 30, introducing 12 campaign missions, new gods, and mythical creatures – including Amaterasu and the demonic Kagemasa.

Partners from Asia and Beyond – Capcom, Square Enix, IO Interactive

In addition to its own productions, Microsoft showcased several partner titles. Square Enix surprised fans with the release of Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven, available now on Xbox. Capcom shared more footage from Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection and confirmed that the first two entries in the series will arrive on Xbox this November.

IO Interactive also revealed new content – a Bruce Lee–inspired mission for Hitman: World of Assassination. Meanwhile, 007 First Light introduced actress Gemma Chan as Selina Tan, head of MI6’s Tactical Simulation Division.

Game Pass on the Offensive

Many of the featured titles will join Xbox Game Pass, including TerminuII Brigade, Winter Burrow, and Forza Horizon 6. Later this year, subscribers will gain access to Ninja Gaiden 4, The Outer Worlds 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and more day-one releases.

Microsoft also emphasized that most of the showcased games support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing seamless play across devices – including the new handheld ROG Xbox Ally, launching on October 16.
